Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a telephone conversation with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was shared via the Indian head of government's official account on the X social network.

Prime Minister Modi noted that he had a productive conversation with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, extending his congratulations to the people of Oman on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Adha. During the call, both leaders reached an agreement on the vital importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy to reduce regional tensions and restore lasting peace and stability.

The parties specifically emphasized their joint commitment to ensuring safe and free navigation through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, India reaffirmed its support for Oman's sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing gratitude for the Sultanate's efforts in ensuring the safe return of thousands of individuals, including Indian citizens, during regional crises.

Relations between India and Oman have historically been characterized by strong maritime trade links and strategic partnership. Oman serves as a key gateway for India in the Gulf region, with both nations maintaining robust cooperation in defense, energy, and food security. This latest high-level dialogue underscores the growing importance of the Muscat-New Delhi axis in maintaining the security of global energy supply routes and fostering Middle Eastern stability.
