This year, 3,148 applicants scored 600 or higher in university entrance exams.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that State Examination Center (SEC) Chairperson Maleyka Abbaszade wrote this on her social media account.

She said 1,811 of those applicants graduated from general education schools operating in the regions:

“Applicants with high scores represent almost all cities and districts of the republic, including rural schools. One of the most important aspects of these figures is that high achievement is increasingly spread across a wider geographic area. Ensuring that a young person’s knowledge is assessed objectively and that they have access to opportunities matching their results, regardless of where they live or which school they attend, is one of the main conditions for fairness in the education system.”

The SEC chairperson also said that awarding the Presidential scholarship to young people with high scores has been an important tradition for many years:

“The state’s highest-level recognition of young people’s knowledge and hard work also provides a strong incentive for their future development. Of the 102 young people nominated for the Presidential scholarship this year, 54 graduated from schools in the regions, including 15 from rural and settlement schools. Four represent schools in districts formerly affected by displacement. These figures once again show that talent has no address. High achievement can emerge from a classroom in the capital, the regions or a rural school. The key is to make opportunities accessible so talented young people can realize their potential.”
