Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov participated in a panel discussion titled “Investing in Peace and Prosperity: The Trans-Caspian Trade Route and TRIPP,” organized by the US government.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the event, held in New York, featured joint remarks by US Special Representative for Peace Missions Steve Witkoff, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brendan Hanrahan, and the heads of foreign policy agencies from countries in the region.
The participants discussed the prospects of the TRIPP project (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) and opportunities to integrate it with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
US Special Representative Steve Witkoff said the project could eliminate “bottlenecks” in global logistics and potentially reduce freight transit times to 2.5–3 weeks amid restrictions affecting the Strait of Hormuz. The discussion noted that Armenia is currently not part of the Trans-Caspian route and that transit cargo bypasses the country, stressing that the new initiative could alter logistics dynamics in the region.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, connects China and Central Asia with the South Caucasus and Europe through the Caspian Sea. Its development is aimed at diversifying trade routes and strengthening transport links between Asia and European markets.
