Milli Majlis to hold next plenary session on May 26

The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Republic of Azerbaijan will convene for its next plenary session of the spring session on May 26.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the agenda for the upcoming meeting includes the discussion of 13 items. The session will address a wide range of issues, including the report on the 2025 activities of the executive body overseeing gender equality and the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, the parliament will consider the appointment and dismissal of judges for the Baku, Ganja, Sumgait, Sheki, and Shirvan appellate courts.

The legislative agenda also features several bills in their final readings. These include the draft law "On Financial Leasing" and a comprehensive set of amendments to the Civil Code, Tax Code, and Competition Code, as well as laws regarding bankruptcy, grain production, and tobacco products. Lawmakers will also deliberate on third-reading amendments to the "Statute on Military Service" and the law "On Military Duty and Military Service," alongside second-reading discussions on the law "On Diplomatic Service" and a first-reading review of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) is the unicameral legislative branch of Azerbaijan, responsible for enacting laws, approving the state budget, and ratifying international agreements. The current spring session is part of the parliament's regular legislative calendar, focusing on the modernization of the national legal framework and the alignment of domestic regulations with international standards to support Azerbaijan's ongoing economic and social development.
