During today's session of the extraordinary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), the draft law "On the execution of the 2025 state budget" was adopted in the first reading.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, state budget revenues for the previous year reached 39 billion 184.6 million manats. This figure represents a 5.4% increase compared to the previous year and exceeds the initial forecast by 2.2%. Meanwhile, budget expenditures totaled 38 billion 604.6 million manats, marking a 2.4% annual increase, though remaining 6.8% below the projected forecast.
Throughout the year, the state budget recorded a surplus of 580 million manats, equivalent to 0.45% of the GDP. This surplus was primarily driven by the over-fulfillment of revenue forecasts, alongside budgetary organizations executing their expenditures 2 billion 803 million manats below the projected amounts.
The execution of the state budget is a critical annual legislative process in Azerbaijan, ensuring transparency and fiscal accountability. The Milli Majlis reviews these reports to verify that government spending aligns with national strategic priorities, including infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and the ongoing restoration efforts in the liberated territories of Garabagh.
