Mehriban Rahimli, an adviser on Azerbaijan to the German Marshall Fund of the United States who was prosecuted in connection with the NGO case, has received a suspended sentence of seven years and six months, with a four-year probation period.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the verdict was announced during a hearing at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Namiq Karimov.
The state prosecutor also addressed the court, requesting a suspended sentence of nine years, with a five-year probation period, for Rahimli.
Rahimli was prosecuted as part of a criminal case launched by the Prosecutor General’s Office in connection with the “NGO case.”
She was charged under Articles 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained through criminal means, on a large scale), 308 (abuse of official authority) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.
During the investigation, Rahimli was placed under police supervision as a preventive measure.
