UEFA could ban Manchester City from European competitions for seven to 10 years if the club’s appeal against allegations of financial rule breaches is unsuccessful, journalist Cesar Augusto Londono wrote on social media platform X.
An independent Premier League commission found Manchester City guilty of the vast majority of 115 charges relating to alleged financial irregularities between 2009 and 2018. According to the commission, the club overstated its revenue by about £830 million, while the total amount of alleged misrepresentation exceeded £900 million.
The club has appealed the charges. Londono linked any potential UEFA decision to the outcome of that appeal.
In 2020, the Court of Arbitration for Sport overturned UEFA’s decision to ban Manchester City from European competitions for two seasons over breaches of financial fair play rules.
