President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation to discuss the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and the current situation in the Middle East.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Kyrgyz Presidential Press Service reported that the heads of state exchanged congratulations ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, wishing peace and prosperity to the peoples of both nations.

During the discussion, special attention was paid to cooperation within the framework of the SCO. President Japarov emphasized that as the current chair of the organization, Kyrgyzstan prioritizes strengthening the SCO's role in ensuring peace, trust, and constructive interaction among member states. The leaders underscored the significance of the upcoming summit in Kyrgyzstan and the importance of ensuring it is held at a high organizational level.

Regarding the regional agenda, President Japarov highlighted the necessity of maintaining dialogue and resolving all issues exclusively through political and diplomatic means, expressing hope for the restoration of stability in the Middle East. The leaders concluded the call by reaffirming their mutual interest in further developing Kyrgyz-Iranian relations based on friendship and mutual support.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, founded in 2001, serves as a key Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance. Its summits are critical platforms for member states to coordinate policies on regional stability, counter-terrorism, and economic integration, making the upcoming meeting in Kyrgyzstan a significant event for regional diplomacy.
