Russian swimmer Yegor Kornev made headlines twice during the final session on the second day of the Swimming World Cup in Baku. He clocked 44.84 seconds in the 100-meter freestyle, matching the time of world-record holder Kyle Chalmers.

Kornev also set a World Cup record in the 50-meter backstroke, finishing in 22.23 seconds. Azerbaijan’s Fatima Alkaramova placed seventh in the 400-meter individual medley.

The World Cup is being held at the Baku Aquatics Palace from Oct. 1 to 3. A total of 216 athletes from 44 countries are competing, with 15 swimmers representing Azerbaijan.
