Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany assessed his side’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the third round of the Champions League league phase. In the match, played in Munich on October 21, Eze opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Davies equalised in the 35th minute, Kane put Bayern ahead in the 61st, and Rice scored the equaliser in the 82nd.
Kompany said his team created chances but struggled during the final 10 to 15 minutes. Although Bayern lost some of its intensity, he said the team believed it could win and even deserved to do so. The coach said he was disappointed to concede the late goal.
Arsenal pressed with the same intensity as Bayern. Kompany said his team reached the final third more often than its opponent and posed a threat in promising situations. He added that Bayern had two or three situations in which it had a numerical advantage.
Kompany described Arsenal as a high-level opponent and stressed that Bayern did not have full control of the match, with the London side also having periods of dominance. He said Bayern created more clear-cut chances, but the draw could be a fair result, according to Spanish broadcaster DAZN.
