Jurgen Klopp records Germany’s worst start as coach

Germany hosted Greece in the second round of the Nations League group stage.

The visitors won 1-0 in a match played in Augsburg. Germany had previously drawn 1-1 with the Netherlands.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp has recorded the weakest start by a head coach in the history of the Germany national team.

Before Klopp, the fewest points collected by Germany in its first two matches were recorded under Sepp Herberger in 1937 and Helmut Schön in 1965. Both coaches’ teams earned two points at this stage.

The Nations League is a UEFA competition in which European national teams play scheduled group-stage matches, providing additional competitive fixtures outside major tournament qualifying campaigns.
