Israeli forces continued attacks in southern Lebanon on Thursday, carrying out airstrikes, explosions in homes, artillery fire and machine-gun sweeps, Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The agency said the attacks affected Al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun in the Tyre district; Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Nabatieh al-Fawqa in the Nabatieh district; Haddatha in the Bint Jbeil district; and the Zahrani area in the Sidon district.

Attacks reported in several districts

In Al-Mansouri, Israeli warplanes carried out a strike as Israeli forces set off large explosions, NNA said. The blasts caused strong tremors and were heard in Tyre and nearby villages. The agency said several homes had been rigged with explosives before being demolished.

A large explosion was also reported in Majdal Zoun. In the Nabatieh district, NNA said Israeli aircraft struck the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah overnight and carried out another strike near Scout City. The Ali al-Taher heights, near Nabatieh al-Fawqa, came under intermittent artillery fire.

In the Bint Jbeil district, Israeli forces fired machine guns toward Haddatha while military vehicles moved through the area, according to the agency. An Israeli drone was also seen flying at low altitude over the Zahrani area in the Sidon district.

NNA did not report any casualties from the attacks.

Attacks continue despite framework agreement

On June 26, Beirut and Tel Aviv signed a US-sponsored “framework formula” in Washington. It provides for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army in areas vacated by Israeli forces.

Despite the agreement, Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have continued, and Israel still occupies areas in the south, some for decades and others seized during more recent wars and military operations.

Lebanese authorities say Israel’s offensive on Lebanon has killed at least 4,386 people, injured 12,413 and displaced more than 1 million since March 2.
