The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed responsibility on Sunday for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during a targeted military operation.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death in an official statement. According to the report, the Supreme Leader was the primary target of a large-scale operation conducted by the Israeli Air Force, based on detailed intelligence data.

"The strike was carried out on the central command building in Tehran at the moment when Khamenei and other high-ranking officials were present at the location," the statement read. Iranian authorities officially confirmed the death of Khamenei overnight into Sunday.

This unprecedented escalation marks a significant turning point in the long-standing regional tensions between Israel and Iran. The Supreme Leader of Iran holds the highest political and religious authority in the country, serving as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and maintaining final say on all major state policies, including foreign relations and nuclear strategy. The incident follows months of heightened military activity and shadow warfare across the Middle East, raising concerns about further regional instability and potential retaliatory measures from Tehran.
