The Iraqi government has officially declared that recent airstrikes targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were carried out by the United States and Saudi Arabia without the prior knowledge or consent of Baghdad.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, an official representative of the Iraqi government condemned these military operations, characterizing them as a violation of the country's national sovereignty.

The official emphasized that the Iraqi government received no prior notification regarding military interventions conducted by coalition forces or other regional partners. The strikes specifically targeted the PMF, which is formally integrated into Iraq's state security apparatus.

The Popular Mobilization Forces, or Al-Hashd al-Shaabi, were established in 2014 to combat extremist threats in the region and have since become a significant, albeit controversial, component of Iraq's security architecture. As of now, officials from the United States and Saudi Arabia have not issued an official response regarding the incident.
