The Iranian Embassy in Ghana has issued a creative response to a social media post by US President Donald Trump, which featured a map illustrating potential air strike trajectories against Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Iranian diplomatic mission released a video produced using artificial intelligence (AI) in response to the American leader's post.
The tension began on May 18 when US President Donald Trump shared an image on the Truth Social platform. The post depicted the US flag with red arrows indicating strike directions toward Iran. In a symbolic counter-move, the Iranian Embassy in Ghana shared a video featuring the popular "Minion" characters from the "Despicable Me" franchise. In the footage, the characters are seen washing away the US flag with a fire hose and replacing it with the Iranian flag set against a backdrop of the galaxy.
The diplomatic mission accompanied the video on the X social media platform with a statement: "Trump marked threats on our map. We showed the galaxy." The unconventional digital response has quickly sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms, highlighting the increasingly digital nature of modern diplomatic friction.
This exchange occurs amid a complex geopolitical landscape between Washington and Tehran. Since US President Donald Trump's inauguration in January 2025, regional security and the future of diplomatic agreements have remained central themes in international discourse. Such social media interactions reflect the ongoing psychological and information warfare strategies employed by various states to project influence and national resilience on the global stage.
