Iran has warned that any new attack by the United States or Israel would trigger a stronger response, saying it has prepared potential targets for retaliation and significantly expanded weapons production.
Defense Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik said a renewed attack would draw a “decisive response” and cause heavier losses for Iran’s adversaries, the semi-official Fars News Agency reported.
Asked about a possible attack on Kuh-e Kolang, also known as Pickaxe Mountain, Talaei-Nik said targets for a response by Iranian armed forces had already been identified and prepared.
He said the armed forces had been provided with advanced missile and drone capabilities, upgraded air defenses and other naval, ground and air systems.
Talaei-Nik said Iran’s capacity to produce weapons, defense equipment and ammunition had risen 2.5-fold from levels before the war that began on Feb. 28. Production of some types of weapons had increased more than threefold, he said, adding that more than 1,000 systems, weapons, equipment types and ammunition were within the production capacity of the Defense Ministry and its partner network.
He also said Iran’s defense cooperation with Russia and China had neither stopped nor declined, and that strategic cooperation under existing agreements remained active. Political and defense exchanges were continuing, while defense diplomacy and consultations had intensified in some areas, he said, without elaborating.
The latest tensions follow the US-Israeli war against Iran that began on Feb. 28. Strikes targeted Iranian military and nuclear facilities and senior military officials, while Tehran retaliated with missile and drone attacks against Israel and US military targets in the region.
