Tehran has suspended message exchanges with Washington via intermediaries amid escalating regional tensions, specifically regarding Israel's military operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran has halted these indirect diplomatic channels. Tehran is demanding an immediate cessation of Israeli military operations in both Lebanon and Gaza, stating that no negotiations with the US will proceed until these conditions are met.

The report indicates that Iran views Israel's ongoing attacks against Hezbollah as a direct violation of an April 8 ceasefire agreement previously reached with the US. Consequently, Tehran maintains that resuming diplomatic contacts is impossible until the security situation in Lebanon and Gaza is normalized.

To date, neither the US administration nor the intermediary nations involved in these back-channel communications have issued an official statement regarding the suspension. The breakdown of these talks underscores the deepening regional instability, as diplomatic efforts to contain the conflict between Israel and Iran-aligned groups face significant setbacks. Historically, such indirect channels have served as a critical, albeit fragile, mechanism for de-escalation between Washington and Tehran, particularly during periods of heightened military activity in the Middle East.
