İranın şok etirafı: ABŞ ilə diplomatik əlaqələr gərginləşir

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that while message exchanges between Tehran and Washington continue, recent regional developments have severely undermined mutual trust.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this statement was made by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei during his weekly press conference.

Baghaei emphasized that the parties are currently communicating within an environment of profound distrust. "These events undoubtedly exacerbate the lack of confidence. We are currently exchanging messages with the American side under conditions of deep skepticism. The events of the last 24 hours will further complicate this unfavorable situation in the diplomatic process," Baghaei stated.

The diplomatic friction occurs against a backdrop of escalating regional conflict. Reports indicate that on the evening of June 7, Iran launched missiles toward northern Israel, with Israeli authorities claiming that all projectiles were neutralized. Tensions have surged following Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in the vicinity of Beirut, which Israel described as a response to Hezbollah's rocket attacks on its northern territories. Following the Iranian missile launches, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a series of retaliatory strikes against Iran.

The relationship between Iran and the United States has historically been characterized by a lack of formal diplomatic ties since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Communication between the two nations is typically facilitated through third-party intermediaries, such as Switzerland, which hosts the U.S. Interests Section in Tehran. The current escalation highlights the fragility of these indirect channels as regional powers navigate the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah.
