President Ilham Aliyev has stated that the visit of the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, to Azerbaijan will play a significant role in the development of bilateral relations between Baku and the European Union.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state made these remarks during a joint press statement with the President of the European Council in Baku. "I am pleased to welcome you here in Azerbaijan. We have met twice last year. I invited you, and I am glad that you accepted this invitation. Your visit will play a major role in our bilateral relations," President Ilham Aliyev said.
The visit comes at a pivotal time as Azerbaijan and the European Union continue to strengthen cooperation in energy security, regional stability, and economic diversification. The European Union remains Azerbaijan's primary trading partner, with both parties currently working toward a new comprehensive agreement to expand the legal framework of their strategic partnership. This high-level meeting underscores the mutual interest in deepening ties across the South Caucasus region.
