President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the occasion of the Kingdom’s Proclamation Day.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the congratulatory message said:
“On the occasion of Sept. 23 – the Kingdom’s Proclamation Day, I sincerely congratulate you and, through you, all your people on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and am pleased to convey my best wishes.
We are pleased with the steadily growing and dynamic development of Azerbaijan-Saudi Arabia interstate relations and cooperation, based on common spiritual values, religious and cultural roots, and traditional friendship and brotherhood.
We attach great importance to the comprehensive development of our relations based on mutual trust and support. Today, our cooperation in a number of areas serves the interests of our countries and brings our peoples even closer. Our partnership with ACWA Power, a leading company of your country, in energy, including alternative and renewable energy, which is one of the priority areas of our cooperation, is expanding year by year and gaining new substance.
I would also like to particularly emphasize our effective cooperation and mutual support within international organizations, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Certainly, the existence of an active political dialogue at the highest level has created a favorable basis for all this.

Saudi Arabia’s Proclamation Day, observed on Sept. 23, marks the unification of the Kingdom in 1932. Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia maintain cooperation in political, economic and energy fields, as well as through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
