Heavy rain, hail and thunderstorms forecast for Azerbaijan

Intermittent rain is expected in Azerbaijan’s Guba-Gusar region on the evening of Sept. 24 and in some mountainous and foothill districts during the first half of Sept. 25.

The information was provided to “Operative Information Center-OMM” by the National Hydrometeorological Service.

The service said that rain may be intense and short-lived in some areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

The expected wet weather may increase water levels in rivers, while short-term flooding and mudflows are possible on some rivers of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus.

Weather-related risks such as flash floods and mudflows can develop rapidly in mountainous and foothill areas, particularly during intense short-duration rainfall. Residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution near riverbeds and low-lying areas.
