Heavy rain, hail and flood risks forecast across Azerbaijan

Rainy weather is continuing in Azerbaijan.

“Operative Information Center-OMM”, citing the National Hydrometeorology Service, reports that intermittent rain is expected across the country on October 6 and 7. Precipitation is forecast to intensify in some areas, with heavy showers, thunderstorms and hail possible.

Baku and the Absheron Peninsula will also be mostly cloudy. Rain is expected to intensify in the morning, with some breaks during the day. It is forecast to become heavier again in the evening.

Temperatures in Baku and Absheron to range from 8 to 22 degrees

Temperatures in the capital will be 8-13 degrees Celsius at night and 19-22 degrees during the day.

Fog may accompany the rainy weather in the morning and evening.

Heavy rain, hail and possible snow in the regions

Rainy weather will continue in the regions. Precipitation is expected to intensify in some districts on October 6 and 7, with heavy showers forecast for the morning and evening of October 7.

Thunderstorms and hail are possible in some areas. Sleet and snow are forecast in high mountain areas.

Snow has already been observed in some high mountain areas, including in the direction of Kalbajar.

Temperatures in the regions are expected to range from 3 to 13 degrees Celsius at night and 19 to 23 degrees during the day. Temperatures will be lower in high mountain areas.

River levels expected to rise, with flood risk

Rainfall is expected to increase water levels in rivers.

The National Hydrometeorology Service has warned of a high risk of floods and flash floods in rivers flowing through the mountainous parts of the Lesser and Greater Caucasus, as well as in some rivers in the Lankaran-Astara region and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

How long will the rainy weather last?

According to the forecast, rainy weather will continue for two days, on October 6 and 7. There may be breaks in precipitation afterward, followed by another two consecutive rainy days in the coming days.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly on Sunday.
