The working visit of Giorgia Meloni, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, to Azerbaijan concluded on May 4.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing AZERTAC, that a guard of honor was lined up in honor of the distinguished guest at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where the national flags of both countries were flying. The Italian leader was seen off by Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov, Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, and other official representatives.
Italy remains a key strategic partner for Azerbaijan within the European Union, with both nations maintaining robust cooperation in the energy and economic sectors. Azerbaijan is a major supplier of energy to Italy via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), a crucial component of the Southern Gas Corridor. This visit further solidifies the diplomatic and economic framework between Baku and Rome, focusing on mutual interests in regional stability and energy security.
