Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani during his official visit to Baghdad.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the meeting held on Wednesday evening highlighted the significance of the deep-rooted historical and geographical ties that unite Iran and Iraq.

Ghalibaf emphasized the substantial potential for expanding cooperation between the two nations. According to the Speaker, the development of relations between Tehran and Baghdad creates significant opportunities not only for bilateral ties but also for strengthening regional cooperation across the Islamic and Arab worlds.

During the discussions, both sides underscored the necessity of further consolidating the strategic partnership between Iran and Iraq. The parties also exchanged views on regional security issues, stressing the importance of joint efforts to maintain stability in the Middle East.
