Galatasaray will host Fenerbahce tomorrow in the ninth round of the Turkish Super Lig. Atilla Karaoglan will referee the match at RAMS Park.
Galatasaray lead the standings with 19 points after eight rounds. The team have won six matches, drawn one and lost one. Fenerbahce are third with 16 points after five wins, one draw and two defeats.
Leao to miss derby
Galatasaray’s Portuguese player Rafael Leao will miss the match because of an injury. He injured his groin in the 77th minute of the team’s 1-0 match against Genclerbirligi, suffering a mild-to-moderate strain.
Galatasaray recorded their first win of the season in the Champions League, beating Lille 4-2 away. The team are unbeaten in their last 39 home matches in the Super Lig, with 31 wins and eight draws. Their last home defeat came against Fenerbahce on May 19, 2024.
Okan Buruk targets 120th win
Galatasaray’s late goals this season have earned the team 10 points: Victor Osimhen scored in the 90th minute of a 2-2 draw with Arca Corum FK, while Gabriel Sara netted in the 90+1st minute of a 3-2 win over Istanbul Basaksehir. In a 3-1 victory against Kasimpasa, Baris Alper Yilmaz scored in the 90th minute and Mario Lemina in the 90+5th. Deniz Gul scored in the 88th minute against Genclerbirligi.
Under Okan Buruk, Galatasaray have recorded 119 wins, 18 draws and 13 defeats in 150 league matches, scoring 354 goals and conceding 125. A victory over Fenerbahce would be Buruk’s 120th league win. Technical wins in matches against Gaziantep FK and Hatayspor, which withdrew from the league during the 2022-2023 season, are not included in that tally.
Victor Osimhen is unbeaten in four league matches and one Turkish Cup match against Fenerbahce. He has recorded two wins and two draws in the league, scoring once against the team. In the 2024-2025 Turkish Cup quarter-final, which Galatasaray won 2-1, he scored twice.
