Police officers in Baku have arrested a man suspected of defrauding dozens of citizens by posting fake advertisements for low-priced furniture on social media platforms. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) identified the suspect as 40-year-old Vusal Huseynov, a previously convicted individual, following a series of operational measures in the capital.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a statement regarding the scheme. Investigations revealed that Huseynov placed fraudulent listings on various announcement websites and social networks, gaining the trust of approximately 40 individuals and soliciting advance deposits before severing all communication with the victims.

Cybercrime and online marketplace fraud have become increasing concerns for law enforcement agencies in Azerbaijan. The MIA continues to urge citizens to exercise caution when making online purchases, particularly when dealing with unverified sellers on social media, and to report suspicious activities to the police immediately. Further investigations into the case are currently ongoing to determine the full extent of the financial damage caused.
