Former Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Salim Muslumov has started working as an economics lecturer at the National Aviation Academy.
“Operative Information Center-OMM”, citing TodayPress TV, reports that Muslumov previously served as head of the academy’s Department of World Economy in 2019.
Muslumov served as Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population from 2013 to 2018 and chaired the State Social Protection Fund from 2002 to 2013.
The former minister, who holds a doctorate in economics, was detained by the State Security Service (SSS) in February 2021. He was arrested on charges of embezzlement, abuse of office and accepting a large bribe.
During the investigation, the measure of restraint imposed on Muslumov was changed from detention to house arrest after authorities took into account that he had paid most of the damage caused and had health problems.
Later, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to a suspended term.
The National Aviation Academy is an Azerbaijani higher education institution specializing in aviation, transport and related technical and economic fields. Its academic programs include instruction in economics and management alongside professional aviation training.
