Flooding has affected more than 1.17 million households across Thailand, while rising waters continue to challenge the capital, Bangkok.
Heavy to very heavy rain in many parts of the country, along with runoff from northern provinces flowing into the Central Plains, has inundated large areas, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Director-General Nirat Pongsitthaworn said on Sunday, according to the Bangkok Post.
Flooding is continuing in 27 provinces, affecting 154 districts, 1,209 tambons and 8,790 villages, as well as Bangkok. More than 3.2 million people have been affected.
The latest figures mark a decline from Friday, when flooding was reported in 31 provinces and Bangkok and had affected more than 1.24 million households.
