Fidan: “Türkiyə hər zaman özünü qorumağa qadirdir”

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan delivered a comprehensive speech regarding increasing regional tensions and threats to global stability during an iftar program held with representatives in Ankara.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the minister specifically assessed the regional impacts of potential escalations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Fidan noted that the most negative scenario currently is the expansion of the conflict into an environment of instability covering the entire region. Touching upon the issue of energy security, he stated:

"The interruption of natural gas flow from Iran or disruptions in energy imports from Gulf countries pose a serious risk to the global energy market."

Furthermore, it was emphasized that the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz could cause major fluctuations in world financial markets.

Speaking about Türkiye's security priorities, the minister noted that Ankara is working intensively to call the parties back to dialogue. Responding to questions about Iran targeting US bases in the region or potential impacts on the island of Cyprus, Fidan firmly stated that Türkiye possesses the necessary will and potential to protect itself against any threat. He also added that the situation in Gaza is negatively affected by these conflicts and that humanitarian aid efforts are being continued.

The statements come at a time of heightened geopolitical sensitivity in the Middle East, where Türkiye continues to position itself as a key mediator and regional power. As a member of NATO and a major player in regional diplomacy, Ankara has consistently advocated for de-escalation to prevent a broader regional war that could destabilize international trade routes and energy supplies. Foreign Minister Fidan's remarks underscore Türkiye's strategic autonomy and its commitment to maintaining both national security and regional equilibrium amidst the ongoing Iran-Israel tensions.
