Joint projects between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are increasing day by day.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the remarks at a briefing for the press in Baku alongside his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov.
He said Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations are developing under the principle of "One nation, two states": "My visit today also coincided with the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku. We pray for the souls of all our martyrs."
The Turkish minister said he discussed relations between the two countries during his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev:
"We emphasize the importance of the operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. Joint cooperation in the defense sector also demonstrates this partnership on the ground. We will continue this in the period ahead."
Fidan said Türkiye was closely following the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and had always stood by Azerbaijan: "Our wish is for the necessary steps to be taken for the development of the region."
The minister also addressed the construction of the Kars-Dilucu railway, saying the project would be completed by the end of 2029:
"The operation of the Middle Corridor is in the interests of both countries. It will also contribute to the Organization of Turkic States countries. Work on the Kars-Dilucu railway project is continuing, and construction of this railway will be completed toward the end of 2029."
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Kars-Dilucu line form part of broader efforts to strengthen regional transport connectivity and support trade routes linking Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Central Asia.
