A meeting was held between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to a statement from the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency, the talks focused in detail on bilateral relations as well as regional and global security issues.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed the importance of joint steps to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.

The Turkish leader said Ankara was ready to support the resumption of direct contacts between Moscow and Kyiv, and underscored the importance of continuing diplomatic initiatives aimed at a fair resolution of the conflict.

At the meeting, the Turkish president congratulated his Russian counterpart on his birthday and also extended congratulations on the victory of the political party he leads in elections to the State Duma.
