A driver who committed a gross traffic violation by allowing a minor to operate a motor vehicle has been identified and held accountable following an investigation into footage circulated on social media and online media platforms.
The Main State Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported the incident, according to the Operative Information Center-OMM. The investigation revealed that the incident took place in the Binagadi district of Baku. The driver of a Hyundai brand vehicle, identified as Telman Rustamov, entrusted the management of the vehicle to a minor. Administrative measures have been applied against the individual in accordance with the requirements of the law.
"The Main State Traffic Police Department once again emphasizes that entrusting the management of a vehicle to a minor is not only illegal but also poses a serious threat to road safety. Vehicle owners and parents are required to strictly avoid such cases," the statement said.
In Azerbaijan, the legal age for obtaining a driver's license for passenger cars is 18. The Ministry of Internal Affairs frequently conducts monitoring and awareness campaigns to prevent unauthorized persons and minors from operating vehicles, as such actions significantly increase the risk of road accidents and endanger public safety in the capital and across the Republic of Azerbaijan.
