The construction of a new cable car in the city of Lachin is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports this with reference to the Azerbaijan Yerüstü Nəqliyyat Agentliyi (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
The cable car will span a length of 1,720 meters with a height of 300 meters. The travel time across the line is estimated at approximately six minutes, with a transport capacity of 800 passengers per hour. Intensive work is currently underway at the site, including the relocation of greenery, foundation work for supports and terminal areas, and the delivery of necessary technical equipment.
The project is part of a broader initiative to revitalize the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and transform the East Zangezur economic region into a major tourism hub. Since the restoration of its territorial integrity, the Republic of Azerbaijan has launched numerous large-scale infrastructure projects in Lachin, including the construction of an international airport and the comprehensive restoration of the city's historical and residential areas. The cable car is expected to provide visitors with a unique panoramic view of the mountainous landscape, further enhancing the region's appeal for both local and international tourists.
