Fashion house Carolina Herrera held a vibrant runway show at New York Fashion Week on Monday to mark its 45th anniversary.

The fashion house presented its spring 2025 collection in a venue decorated with sun-colored tulips. Creative Director Wes Gordon said he wanted to create a “carpet of yellow flowers” for the show and used what he called “taxi yellow.”

The collection included pieces created as part of a collaboration with The New Yorker magazine, as well as garments featuring Andy Warhol’s portrait of Carolina Herrera. The artist’s work was licensed for the first time and appeared on bags and dresses.

According to Gordon, Herrera, whom he described as a close friend, liked one of the dresses featuring Warhol’s work and said the artist would have liked it as well.

The show opened with black-and-white everyday outfits accented with yellow. Mini dresses and eveningwear in Herrera red and pistachio were presented later.

Gordon said colors play an important role in the fashion house’s identity. He stressed that the main requirement in selecting the palette was for the colors to be energetic and vibrant.

New York Fashion Week is scheduled to conclude on September 15 after six days of presentations featuring about 70 collections.

Founded in New York in 1981, Carolina Herrera has become known internationally for its refined womenswear, bold color combinations and signature evening designs. The anniversary collection highlights the fashion house’s continued use of art and color as central elements of its visual identity.
