Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, 73, has left his position as head coach of Ghana’s national team, the country’s football association press service said.
Queiroz was appointed Ghana head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The team advanced to the round of 32 at the tournament, where it lost 1-0 to Colombia.
His departure was announced on July 6, and he returned to the post on September 2. Ghana lost both Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches under Queiroz, falling 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire and 4-2 to Gambia.
During his career, Queiroz has coached the national teams of Oman, Qatar, Iran, Egypt, Colombia, Portugal, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. At club level, he has managed Manchester United, Real Madrid and other teams.
