Bulgarian President Rumen Radev is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan from May 17-19 to participate in the Leaders Summit held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the press service of the Bulgarian President confirmed that the visit is taking place at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev. The Leaders Summit, a high-level segment of the forum, will be held for the first time within the WUF framework on May 18. During the visit, the Bulgarian leader is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with President Ilham Aliyev to discuss regional cooperation and bilateral ties.
The Bulgarian delegation will also include Daniel Panov, the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo and Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria, along with various local government representatives. WUF13, scheduled for May 17-22 in Baku, is organized in close cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The forum serves as a premier global platform for discussing sustainable urbanization, the development of "smart cities," and innovative urban solutions to address the challenges of rapid urban growth.
Azerbaijan's hosting of WUF13 underscores the country's growing role in international diplomacy and its commitment to sustainable development goals. The event follows a series of high-profile international gatherings in Baku, highlighting the capital's capacity as a global hub for multilateral dialogue on urban planning and environmental sustainability.
