On Sept. 24, 2026, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenia’s Foreign Minister and Minister of International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan met in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reported that the information was released by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two ministers emphasized the importance of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia and reviewed progress achieved following agreements reached at the 2025 Washington Peace Summit. Particular attention was paid to the opening of economic and transport infrastructure between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In this context, trade and transit links between Azerbaijan and Armenia were highlighted as practical examples of the benefits of peace.
The ministers exchanged views on opportunities to promote a positive agenda on various multilateral platforms.
The ministers agreed to continue direct dialogue.
Meetings held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly provide a platform for officials to discuss regional security, connectivity and economic cooperation alongside broader international issues. Transport links are a key element of efforts to translate political agreements into practical cooperation between neighboring countries.
