A total of 504,413 students are expected to study at general education institutions operating under the Baku City Education Department (BCED) in the new academic year.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the department provided the information.
According to the forecast, 39,999 students will attend Grade 1, 49,167 Grade 9, 39,479 Grade 11 and 99 Grade 12 at general education schools under the BCED.
“A total of 17,863 five-year-old children are expected to join school-preparation groups at general education institutions in the capital. Meanwhile, 35,043 children have been enrolled at preschool education institutions operating under the BCED. General education institutions employ 29,715 teachers, while preschool education institutions have 4,137 educator-teachers,” the department said.
The department oversees 729 educational institutions and nine extracurricular institutions.
School-preparation groups are designed to help children develop the foundational academic and social skills needed for primary education. The figures cover general education and preschool institutions operating under the Baku City Education Department.
