Baku resident injured after vehicle hits anti-tank mine in Shusha

A mine explosion occurred on Sept. 28, 2026, in the area of Jamilli village in Azerbaijan’s liberated Shusha district.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reported that the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) issued the information.

According to the statement, a vehicle driven by Bakh­tiyar Mirza oglu Bayramov, a Baku resident born in 1979, struck an anti-tank mine in an uncleared area of the former line of contact.

“Bayramov Bakhtiyar sustained various bodily injuries in the incident.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Shusha District Prosecutor’s Office.

ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prosecutor General’s Office once again urge citizens to comply with safety rules, pay close attention to mine-warning signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, refrain from entering unfamiliar areas and not interfere with areas where fencing operations are underway,” the statement said.

Shusha district is among Azerbaijan’s territories affected by landmines and unexploded ordnance. Authorities regularly warn residents and visitors to use only approved routes and follow instructions from mine-clearance teams.
