Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) CJSC has announced a new schedule for the Baku–Khirdalan and Khirdalan–Baku routes on the Absheron circular railway line, effective from May 8.

According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM from ADY, the update follows the commissioning of the new Dernegul station. Trains will now operate on a revised timetable to accommodate the new stop on the Baku-Khirdalan-Baku direction. The Dernegul station, located on the Absheron circular railway line, was officially put into operation today, with trains already serving passengers since the morning hours.

The project was implemented within the framework of the "State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025–2030," approved by the President of Azerbaijan. The Dernegul station, situated on the Baku–Khirdalan–Sumgait line, has been designed in accordance with modern infrastructure standards and full inclusivity principles to ensure maximum passenger safety and comfort. The facility includes two turnstile buildings, two waiting halls, four platforms, and a pedestrian overpass. To manage passenger flow efficiently, 11 turnstiles have been installed in the Baku-bound hall and 10 in the Sumgait-bound hall, including specialized wide-access turnstiles for persons with disabilities and parents with strollers. Additionally, car and bicycle parking areas have been established in the Sumgait direction.

Fares for the Baku–Dernegul, Dernegul–Bilajari, and Dernegul–Khirdalan routes are set at 0.60 AZN, while the Dernegul–Sumgait route is priced at 1 AZN. Travel time from Baku Railway Station to the Dernegul stop is 10 minutes, while the journey between Dernegul and Bilajari takes 8 minutes, and the distance between Dernegul and Khirdalan is covered in 15 minutes.

The modernization of the Absheron circular railway is a key component of Azerbaijan's strategy to enhance urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion in the capital. By integrating suburban areas like Khirdalan and Sumgait with central Baku, the network provides a sustainable and efficient transport alternative for thousands of daily commuters. This expansion reflects the ongoing commitment of the Republic of Azerbaijan to developing high-tech transport corridors and improving the quality of public services.
