The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued an urgent public advisory regarding unstable weather conditions expected across the country.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry has urged citizens to adhere to strict safety protocols as meteorological conditions deteriorate.

The National Hydrometeorological Service forecasts that starting from the evening of June 24 through June 29, various regions will experience intensive rainfall. The forecast also warns of potential short-term flash floods in certain mountain rivers, accompanied by lightning strikes.

To mitigate risks associated with heavy precipitation, the Ministry advises the public to avoid areas prone to flooding. In the event of a flood, citizens are urged to immediately seek higher ground. Regarding lightning safety, the Ministry recommends disconnecting electrical appliances, refraining from using landline or mobile phones, and avoiding proximity to power lines, lightning rods, or tall trees. When outdoors, individuals should seek shelter in low-lying areas, and motorists are advised to stop their vehicles, keep windows closed, and wait for the storm to pass.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations plays a critical role in disaster management and public safety in Azerbaijan. These warnings are part of the government's proactive approach to disaster risk reduction, ensuring that the population is informed and prepared for extreme weather events, which are monitored continuously by national meteorological services.
