The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan has issued an urgent safety warning to drivers traveling to the regions during the weekend. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Main State Traffic Police Department reported a significant increase in traffic intensity between Baku and the country's various regions.
The MIA emphasized that the surge in travel volume, particularly on major highways, elevates the risk of traffic accidents. To ensure road safety, the ministry has intensified control and preventive measures throughout Azerbaijan. Officials urged drivers to inspect their vehicles' technical condition before departure, strictly observe speed limits, and account for seasonal rainy weather. "Do not drive while fatigued or sleep-deprived, and ensure you take regular breaks during long-distance journeys," the statement added, highlighting that technical faults and haste are leading causes of serious road incidents.
Road safety remains a critical priority for the Republic of Azerbaijan as part of broader infrastructure and public security initiatives. The Main State Traffic Police Department regularly conducts awareness campaigns and monitoring to reduce the number of traffic-related incidents, especially during weekends and public holidays when domestic travel increases. These efforts align with the country's ongoing commitment to modernizing its transport network and improving safety standards on national motorways to protect both citizens and visitors.
