The Agrarian Policy Committee of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (National Assembly) held 11 meetings and reviewed 15 issues during the previous parliamentary session.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Committee Chairman Tahir Rzayev made the statement at a meeting of the committee.
“The discussions focused mainly on amending and supplementing laws and legislative acts related to the agricultural sector. Amendments and additions were made to the Land Code and the laws on grain, phytosanitary control, tea growing, family farms, beekeeping, agricultural cooperation, the land market, land leasing, fisheries, shipping, licenses and permits, and agricultural insurance.
“During this period, we also submitted two important draft laws for discussion. These are the draft laws on seed production and horticulture. They stemmed from the tasks outlined by the country’s president at a meeting dedicated to agricultural issues on May 25 this year, as well as from the implementation of the objectives set out in the State Program on the development of agricultural, fisheries and aquaculture production and processing sectors for 2026–2030,” he said.
The committee’s work covers legislation governing agricultural production, land relations, food safety-related processes and state support mechanisms in Azerbaijan. Parliamentary committees review draft legislation and prepare proposals before matters are submitted for consideration by the Milli Majlis.
