Azerbaijani journalist Rashad Bakhshaliyev passes away at 48

Rashad Bakhshaliyev, a prominent journalist, department head at the Azerbaijan newspaper, and a veteran of the Patriotic War, has passed away at the age of 48.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the deceased journalist, who was born in Mingachevir, will be laid to rest today. Bakhshaliyev was a respected figure in the national media landscape, known for his long-standing commitment to professional journalism and his service to the state.

Born in 1978 in Mingachevir, Bakhshaliyev graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University. He began his career at the Sherg newspaper before joining the Azerbaijan newspaper, the official publication of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly). Upon the outbreak of the Patriotic War in 2020, he voluntarily joined the armed forces, serving as an officer and receiving several medals for his distinguished service in the liberation of occupied territories.

The Azerbaijan newspaper, where Bakhshaliyev spent the latter part of his career, serves as the official state gazette of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It plays a critical role in documenting the country's legislative processes and state decrees. The loss of such a seasoned professional is felt deeply across the media community in Baku and throughout the country, highlighting the significant contributions of journalists who also served on the front lines during the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
