Azerbaijani athletes won 14 medals at the open world championship and championship in hapkido held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
In Kyorugi, the combat program, Yusif Mammadli (33 kg), Nilufer Aliyeva (62 kg) and Ravan Mammadov (+87 kg) won gold medals. Khadija Valizada (52 kg) and Farid Alizada (+65 kg) took silver, while Zahra Manafova (49 kg), Argun Iba (51 kg) and Abdulvahab Aliyev (65 kg) won bronze medals.
In Hosinsul, the individual performance program, Nilufer Aliyeva won a bronze medal. In the complex disciplines, Zahra Manafova and Khadija Valizada were awarded silver medals.
Farid Alizada won gold in the nunchaku program of the weapons freestyle event, while Abdulvahab Aliyev took gold in the long jump over obstacles.
Hapkido competitions commonly include combat, self-defense, technical performance and specialized skill events. The results in Cholpon-Ata gave Azerbaijan’s delegation medals across several of these disciplines.
