Azerbaijan’s under-17 women’s national team played its opening match in the European Championship qualifying campaign.
Competing in Group B1 of League B, Azerbaijan faced Ireland in the Albanian city of Rrogozhinë. The match ended in a 16-0 victory for Ireland.
Azerbaijan’s U-17 team will play Kosovo in its next qualifying match on Oct. 1.
The team will then face Albania on Oct. 4.
The UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship qualifying competition is organized in league divisions, with teams competing for advancement to the final tournament. Azerbaijan’s remaining group matches will determine its position in League B.
