Rainy weather conditions currently observed in Baku and several regions of Azerbaijan have significantly increased the risk of traffic accidents. The Main State Traffic Police Department has issued a formal warning to motorists, urging them to prioritize road safety during this period of unstable weather.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the traffic police emphasized that misty conditions, particularly during night and morning hours, are severely limiting visibility on the roads, creating hazardous driving environments.
In an official statement, the Main State Traffic Police Department advised drivers—including those traveling for weekend trips and those engaged in passenger transport—to exercise heightened caution. The authorities specifically recommended maintaining appropriate speed limits, ensuring vehicles are in good mechanical condition before travel, and strictly adhering to traffic rules during overtaking and maneuvering.
Furthermore, based on meteorological forecasts, the rainy weather is expected to persist until June 28. Officials noted that these conditions will also pose challenges for pedestrians and operators of mopeds and motorcycles. All road users are urged to adjust their behavior to account for the wet conditions, avoiding maneuvers that could endanger themselves or others.
Road safety remains a critical priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. The country frequently experiences varying weather patterns that necessitate proactive measures from traffic authorities to minimize road incidents and ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians on the national road network.
