Officers from the Main Department for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are continuing operations to prevent the illegal circulation of narcotics in Azerbaijan.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by “Operative Information Center-OMM”, E. Mammadov, R. Gurbanov, N. Zeynalova, I. Mayilov, K. Rustamov, U. Aliyev, S. Suleymanov and Iranian citizen S. Esmaeilnaseb were detained during operations in Baku and Ganja. A total of 68 kilograms of narcotics and 1,600 narcotic pills were found in their possession.
The investigation found that the detainees had organized the illegal circulation of drugs smuggled into Azerbaijan on the instructions of drug traffickers living abroad.
Criminal cases have been opened in connection with the incidents. A court ordered pretrial detention for the suspects.
