Azerbaijan has reaffirmed its full support for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Georgia, based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, this position was outlined in an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
The statement emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its strategic partnership and good-neighborly relations with Georgia. It further noted, "Our country will continue its efforts toward further strengthening and developing the relations that have been established between the two states over many years."
Azerbaijan and Georgia share a long history of cooperation, particularly in the energy and transport sectors, which are vital for regional stability. The two nations are key partners in major infrastructure projects, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, which connect the Caspian region to European markets. Maintaining stability in the South Caucasus remains a cornerstone of Azerbaijan's foreign policy, as the country consistently advocates for the respect of international law and the inviolability of state borders.
