The Electronic Security Service (ESS) of Azerbaijan successfully prevented the potential leak of personal data belonging to more than 3 million citizens over the past year. According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the service identified and mitigated various risks during its routine monitoring and security audits.

The agency reported that as a result of control and inspection measures, legal actions were taken against more than 40 legal entities that failed to comply with personal data protection requirements. These organizations were held administratively liable under the current legislation of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, monitoring of social media platforms revealed the illegal distribution of personal data belonging to over 3,000 citizens, leading to immediate corrective measures to eliminate these violations.

To enhance responsiveness to citizen inquiries and ensure transparency in the execution process, the ESS plans to launch a specialized electronic portal during the current year. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to strengthen cybersecurity and data privacy across the Republic of Azerbaijan. In recent years, Azerbaijan has significantly invested in its digital infrastructure, establishing the ESS as a primary regulatory body to combat cyber threats and ensure the integrity of the nation's digital ecosystem.
